Biographie
Helen Jackson was born June 8, 1910 in Madison County, Scott Township, the daughter of Dennis E. and Bessie J. (Lorimor) Hollingsworth. She graduated from Winterset High School and went on to attend Iowa State and Drake Universities. She later married Leslie Jackson. Helen was a 2nd grade teacher and taught at several Des Moines Schools. She also spent a year in Germany where she taught for the United States Army. She is survived by her sister, Mary Norberg of Kansas City, KS and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; brother, Bernard Hollingsworth and two sisters, Evlyn Conley and Doris Griswold. Helen was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Progressive Study Club, both of Winterset. She enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling, especially throughout Europe. Helen passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at her home. She was 97.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. April 1, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, Iowa.
