Keith “Shorty” Templeton, 86, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Winterset Care Center North.

Keith LeRoy Templeton, son of Helen McPherson, was born July 26, 1929, in Stuart, Iowa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School. Shorty served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Shorty was united in marriage to Doris Wood in April of 1964. He was a butcher and meat cutter at the Super Value, an auctioneer, and later worked at Lanny’s Auto after moving to Winterset. After retirement, Shorty ran a consignment store which sold antiques, furniture and other merchandise. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. In his younger years, he raced go-carts and had quite a trophy collection. Shorty enjoyed spending time at the garage and talking with the boys. Most of all, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his beloved wife, Doris.
Shorty is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Templeton of Winterset; children, Jack (Metza) Templeton of Greeley, CO, Dee (Jim) Ashby of Winterset, Tom (Rhonda) Pool of Sully, and Carol (Bob) Ashby of Murray; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen.
