Marcella M. Hiatt

Marcella M. Hiatt, 87, of Winterset died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at her home.

Marcella Mae Christensen was born in Madison County, Iowa on October 2, 1925, the daughter of Otto and Esther (Brobst) Christensen. She was united in marriage to Morris Hiatt on August 23, 1941 in Princeton, Missouri and the couple shared 58 years together. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1999.
Marcella worked as a cook at the Northside Café and Montross Pharmacy for a number of years and also worked as a bookkeeper for Paull Plumbing both in Winterset.
Marcella was a member of the First Christian Church where she was active in the church choir and served as the church’s janitor for several years. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters, loved flowers and collecting.
She is survived by her children, Robert Hiatt (Joy) of Ridgecrest, CA; Terry Hiatt of Humeston; Esther Cook of Aurora, IL; Ruth Ann Kiddoo (Steve) of Winterset; Charles (Victoria) Hiatt of Des Moines, and Curtis Hiatt (Chris) of Earlham; a sister, Loree Rockey of Winterset; 15 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry Rockey, Clifton (Catherine) Hiatt, and Leonard (Ruby) Hiatt.
